In Vitro Activity of Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester against Different Oral Microorganisms
نویسندگان
چکیده
This was an in vitro study that aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial effect of propolis extract caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) on four different oral microorganisms. Seven concentrations CAPE (0.2, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, and 4 mg/mL) for use against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mutans, oralis, salivarius were determined using minimum inhibition concentration (MIC), bactericidal (MBC), broth microdilution, well diffusion tests over 6, 12, 24 h, while NaF at 0.05 percent used as a positive control. aureus most affected by CAPE’s inhibitory bacterial growth, whereas S. mutans least affected. oralis had similar MIC MBC values 1 mg/mL 1.5 mg/mL, respectively. The resistant bacteria with 3 followed salivarius, highest viable count following exposure values, lowest. current results growth are promising, both related cariogenic organisms significant. can be employed adjunct dental hygiene substance maintaining good hygiene, has potential therapeutic field health care.

Treatment with amiodarone, a commonly prescribed antidysrhythmic agent, is associated with pulmonary fibrosis (PF) which is a commonly progressive and untreatable dieases. Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) is a phenolic antioxidant and an active anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antimicrobial and antioxidant component of propolis (bee glue; a resinous hive product collected by honey bees). متن کاملAntioxidant activity of CAPE (caffeic acid phenethyl ester) in vitro can protect human sperm deoxyribonucleic acid from oxidative damage.
PURPOSE Sperm processing (e.g., centrifugation) used in preparation for assisted reproduction can result in excessive generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and potential sperm damage. The use of antioxidants during sperm processing has been shown to prevent iatrogenic sperm damage, including DNA damage. In this study, we evaluated the effect of caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) on oxida...
متن کاملCaffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE): scavenger of peroxynitrite in vitro and in sepsis models.
Excessive free radical production by immune cells has been linked to cell death and tissue injury during sepsis. Peroxynitrite is a short-lived oxidant and a potent inducer of cell death that has been identified in several pathological conditions. Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) is an active component of honeybee products and exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory act...
